On July 4th at 9:26pm, Arthur Romney Cook made his entrance accompanied by fireworks. He was 7 lbs and 5 oz, 19 inches long.
What a miracle! My sweet baby boy is here. Labor was intense but so so worth it. (The whole story will come later.) We are so excited to be parents and to start this amazing adventure. One of the most overwhelming feelings I had the first couple of days was the feeling that we are meant to be in families. It’s hard and a huge adjustment, but I know that the ideal way of life is within a family. When we got married, I realized that being single is unnatural. We as men and women have divine roles that are meant to complement each other and cannot stand alone. But after the birth of our baby I realized that these roles are only magnified through parenthood and instead of weakening our marriage, caring for our baby strengthens it like nothing else could.
The more experience I gain, the more i know the principles in the Family Proclamation are true:
“THE FAMILY is ordained of God.”
“HUSBAND AND WIFE have a solemn responsibility to love and care for each other and for their children. “Children are an heritage of the Lord” (Psalm 127:3). ”
We are still a very new family, but I am so grateful for a loving God who instituted the organization of families to bring us joy and to act as a vehicle for progression.
