Blessed: Arthur at Two Months

In our church, we have the incredible opportunity to bless our baby. It’s a chance to welcome the baby into the world and is in accordance with a scripture in the Doctrine and Covenants which says:

“Every member of the church of Christ having children is to bring them unto the elders before the church, who are to lay their hands upon them in the name of Jesus Christ, and bless them in his name” (D&C 20:70).

Devon had the privilege of blessing Arthur on Sunday. It was beautiful. He blessed Arthur that he would be a light to his friends and family. After the blessing, as I held Arthur, he looked and me and smiled sweetly for several minutes.

And all I could think about was how he is blessing our lives. I am so grateful for the opportunity to be the mother of this sweet little boy. He is such a bringer of joy. After church, we had a little gathering at our apartment for family and some friends and I loved watching Arthur being passed around. He smiled and cuddled and was generally adorable. He made everyone smile. I am so proud to be his mother.

For his blessing, Arthur wore the same coat and cap that my grandfather wore when he was christened. It is made of beautiful creamy wool and hand embroidered.
